May Day Google Changes

I noticed a strange thing while I was searching for my site on Google. Once it showed up on 2800 results, and a after sometime, the site was seen on 300 - 400 results. I was really stunned to see such changes on Google. However, I am still unable to figure out the actual problem why the site is jumping up and down on the result page. Has Google made some changes? Or is there something wrong with my site? I hope I can understand the main cause before my site gets affected. Please give me your assistance to know the drastic change on Google.
